Free Business Days Calculator — With Holidays
Choose between counting business days in a period or adding business days from a date — always skipping weekends and national holidays.
Brazilian national holidays change every year (some, like Carnival and Good Friday, don't even have a fixed date), so doing this math by hand is error-prone. This calculator fetches the official national holiday calendar automatically for the chosen period.
Only NATIONAL holidays are considered. State and municipal holidays, and optional local closures (which vary by city and by local decree), are not accounted for — if your city has its own holiday on that date, the result may not match the local calendar.
National holiday calendar checked on 2026-09 via BrasilAPI/Receita Federal.
Business days questions
What counts as a business day here?
Monday through Friday, except official national holidays (New Year's, Tiradentes, Labor Day, Independence Day, Our Lady of Aparecida, All Souls' Day, Republic Day, Christmas, plus movable ones like Carnival, Good Friday and Corpus Christi).
Do state and municipal holidays count?
No. Only national holidays, because they apply to the whole country. A municipal holiday (a city's founding anniversary, for example) only affects that city, so it isn't automatically deducted here.
How does the count work when the end date is before the start date?
The calculator counts business days in the interval regardless of the date order — the result is always a positive number.
Can I use this for a legal or contractual deadline?
It works as an estimate, but legal deadlines have their own rules (counting in calendar days vs. business days varies by law and by process type). Always confirm the applicable counting rule before using the result for anything with legal consequences.
